Hi y’all! I hope this post finds you well. I wanted to share my hair routine and a fun fact for all blondes that experience green hair in the summer from chlorine. I always try different shampoos and conditioners, but I actually have been using Nexxus for the past year. I’m going to be honest…I don’t like to spend much on shampoo and conditioner, but sometimes it’s really worth it. After I gave the Nexxus line a shot, I haven’t looked back.
This is my review on Shampoo & Conditioners for my type of hair, which is damaged and color or treated hair:
Biolage- This option is expensive and weighs down my hair. Although I like the smell, adds shine and it is easy to brush through my hair after each use.
Pantene Pro V- This option is affordable and I actually still like this for my color and treated hair. It leaves it soft, not greasy and easy to brush through. I used to use the Pantene Pro V leave in conditioner until I switched to Nexxus.
Aussie-This options is affordable, smells good, does nothing for my colored hair. Also, it was really tangled after use.
Garnier Fructis-This option is affordable and I love the smell of this one, but it makes my hair greasy and it builds up on my hair.
Redken-This option is expensive, but adds shine to my colored hair. Also, this option makes my hair greasy.
TRESemme- This option is affordable and does nothing for my colored hair and actually makes it really tangled. I might as well wash my hair with water and no soap since it feels the same.
Herbal Essence- This option is affordable and I like the smell, but it creates a build up over time. It also leaves my hair soft to brush though.
Nexxus-This options is expensive and I’m currently using this. It smells SO good and leaves my hair soft. It also helps with the damage from coloring it. It also helps leave my hair shiny & gives it volume. I also user the Nexxus Humectress Luxe Ultimate Moisture Leave-In Conditioner Spray after I use the Shampoo & Conditioner and it is lightweight and I love it. You can find this almost anywhere…Wal-Mart, Ulta, Amazon.
An interesting fact: 98 popular shampoo brands contained a carcinogen called cocamide diethanolamine (also known as cocamide DEA) which is known to causes cancer. A few brands that contain this is Aussie, Clairol, Dove, Finesse, Herbal Essence, Neutrogena, several L’Oreal, Paul Mitchell, Pantene Pro-V and so many more.
Fun Fact: Ketchup can strip the chlorine out of your hair. I know this sound bogus, but IT REALLY WORKS!
So, I used to swim everyday ALL DAY LONG. When I was in Elementary school hair would have this greenish tent during the summer from all the chlorine. My mom brought everything the salons encourage that would help strip the chorine out and nothing worked. I mean NOTHING! So a few years later a hair dresser mentioned to try ketchup. I know this sounds ridiculous, but it 100% worked. Save yourself the trouble and money invested into finding the best product to remove the chlorine and try ketchup. Literally put ketchup all over your hair, leave it on for 30 minutes and then wash it out. The chlorine and greenish tent will completely be removed!
What products do you use for your hair? Much love, Sue
