Hey y’all! Don’t you love a quick weekend getaway with your babe? Isn’t it funny how you get so wrapped up with kids, kids sports, dinners, doing laundry…basically just life and we forget to have those random date nights every once in awhile. We were really good about scheduling a date night,  once a month after my son was born. Fast forward to the present and our date nights somehow include the kiddos. lol This trip was extra special since it wasn’t just a date night, but more like a date weekend in San Marvelous (San Marcos) & Austin.

Friday morning we dropped the kiddos off and made our way downtown 35 to our alma mauter, Texas State University. We arrived around noon and we decided to go reminiscing throughout town. We checked out our old apartments, my hubby’s fraternity, the new stadium, everything that has changed on campus and where we used to kayak down the San Marcos River. Oh my goodness, it brought back so many wonderful memories and it’s honestly weird to think we graduated over 10 years ago. Yikes! We also, went to see some family and friends. We had happy hour at AquaBrew on the patio and that evening was so gorgeous that we decided to have dinner on the patio at the River Pub (since it just opened reopened). The view was amazing and the food was just as good.

Saturday and we decided to walk around downtown, 6th street area where SXSW was going on. I mean… the amount of people up and walking around at 9am for the event was crazy! The weather couldn’t of been more perfect. I’m all for 90 degree temps in March. I mean…hello spring with a spinkle of summer temps! We saw 3 Batman cars outside of one of the SXSW venues, small red carpets everywhere and unfortunately we missed Matthew McConaughey on the street. That evening we went on to my hubby’s old fraternity brother’s wedding at The Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs Mansion. It was seriously a Pinterest dream. We didn’t stop there after the wedding…a large group of the wedding party went to the bars on 4th street for a late night par-tay.

Sunday came too fast. Well, spring forward made sure of that. lol But seriously, we were ready to be back home with the kiddos, but took our time heading back. We made a pit stop in Waco at Fazoli’s (a fast food Italian restaurant that I LOVE). That wraps of our date weekend and I hope you enjoy some of these spring outfits for your next trip downtown 35! Much love, Sue

OMG, I went to San Marcos when I was in middle school for a camp at (what was called at the time) SWT and we went to this store called Paper Bear. Fast forward 20+ years later and I took my 4 year old son there for his first Paper Bear experience. Super nostalgic and just as I had remembered from years ago. Definitely a recommended stop in San Marcos, especially with kiddos!! ❤️
